Expressions of Art
Art is an ever-changing array of human actions involving visual creativity to express aesthetic beauty, physical strength, emotional control, or creative thinking, often with the intent to produce a piece of art that some perceive to be socially significant. Artistic creation usually involves the application of a variety of human senses, such as sight, touch, and sound. Artistic creation may be of a visual, a written, or a performing form. Some forms of artistic creation may include dancing, literature, and music.
Visual art is any visual creation that is produced by people for the purpose or intended public. This includes paintings, sculptures, photographic works, performance art, and figurative art. Most visual art can be created on a limited budget and it comes in many different types and genres. Varying types and genres of visual art include still life and portraits; theater and dance; architecture and landscape; music and sound; paintings and sculptures.
One of the most common and popular art forms is painting. Paintings can be of animals, nature, or abstract subjects. Painting is one of the oldest forms of art and it is one of the most flexible art forms. Since the ancient times, people have been using different types of paints to paint their images.
Another type of art is printmaking. Printmaking usually refers to canvas painting and is one of the most popular art forms throughout the world. Printmakers manipulate digital images on a surface. Digital images can include photographs, drawings, computer generated images, and any other type of image. Printmaking can be done on a variety of materials including canvas, wood, and silver.
The other types of art include photographic art, video art, installation art, dance, visual art, and music. Photography can either be used to create still images or to capture live scenes. Video art can be either a film or a video and is often created for advertising purposes. Installation art is an art form where certain objects are placed in certain places and are designed to look artistic.
Each type of art has specific purposes. These purposes have to do with the culture of the time as well as the purpose of the art work. For example, photography is used to take still shots for pictures and to create home movies. Film production requires the use of video artists, sound designers, and cinematographers.
Printmaking and other types of this art form can be done on a canvas or stretched across a wooden frame. Art prints are the original works created by artists. There are two types of art prints: first, non-physical work of art that is not made physical by the medium of the artist and usually displayed on a canvas; and second, tangible works of art which mean that the art print is made tangible by the medium of art by using a process such as printing or lithography. Other types of fine art include sculptures, ceramics, and vases. The fine arts include the more traditional categories of paintings, sculptures, and pottery.
These types of art are very common. All cultures around the world have different expressions of art. Some types of art have been created for centuries and have become highly valued throughout the history of mankind. Others have only been produced in certain parts of the world and have only been recently appreciated. No matter how common or rare a piece of art may be, it can be described as an art form when it conveys an idea that is meaningful to the creator.
